About Scales and Shells

Hi, and welcome to Scales & Shells — I’m Michelle

My love for reptiles started when I was very young, and that curiosity quickly turned into a lifelong passion. That passion is what led me to create Scales & Shells, a place where animals always come first.

I’m proud to be one of only a small number of fully licensed private breeders in the UK, and I hold a 5★ Higher Standards licence. Everything I do is built around providing the very best care possible, with a strong focus on natural, ethical breeding and husbandry. No corners are cut, and no expense is spared when it comes to the health and wellbeing of the animals in my care.

All of my adult animals are pets first and breeders second. I very rarely sell adults, as it has taken many years to carefully source exceptional-quality animals as babies and raise them to adulthood. Every step  from correct housing and diet to long-term care  is done properly and thoughtfully.

When an animal leaves Scales & Shells, it doesn’t leave my support behind. I take the time to guide all new owners through correct setup, husbandry, and feeding, and every animal comes with lifetime aftercare, no matter how much time has passed.  I’m always here to help.

I’m also incredibly proud to be the home of the Crested Gecko “Butterscotch Highlighter” line, which is exclusively available from Scales & Shells.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about us  and for supporting ethical, passionate reptile breeding.
